Me And A Rose In The Background

I was introduced to the Reuseum in Boise completely by accident.  We had a really old black and white television set that we has been moving with us where ever we’ve gone.  In fact, Terri bought it in about 1979 and at the time, its yellow-ish color fit the decor of the time.

That little TV set had the personality of that rabbit that never runs out of steam.  We went through three color sets in the past 20 years or so, but, in spite of being thrown in the back of several moving trucks, it kept on going.

We finally decided it needed a new home and found the Reuseum.  It is a unique, one of a kind shop in Boise, which recycles older technology – the kind that had tubes and you had to solder components into to fix.

In their own words, from their website:

A business dedicated to bringing recycled technology to the home of our good people of Boise, Idaho.  While specializing in one of a kind items from the worlds of science, industry and technology, our goal is to bring these things to good use for not only the home hobbyist, artist, and engineer types, but anyone who likes old cool stuff that you just can’t really find anymore.  If you come look around you might be surprised at what cool relics you may find!

When we took our little TV set into the shop it became the center of attention with people wanting to turn it on, touch it and comment on its color.  We immediately knew our TV would find a new home in short order.

If I remember correctly, there are only two other shops like the Reuseum on the west coast, one in Portland, Oregon and another in San Francisco.

Most of the technology is outdated, because developments in digital and solid state technology and, by some, is considered junk.  However, for a radio buff like me or an electronics hobbyist its a gold mine.
