The Gamekeeper Is Closing

May 22, 2009 · Posted in Potpourri

I remember when the Gamekeeper restaurant was THE place to go for fine dining in Boise.  When my husband and I owned one of the first kitchen shops in Boise, we would wine and dine some of our best clients there.

7-22-2007-settlers-park-027Now, because of the economics of the time, the Gamekeeper is closing on May 30, ending an era that started in 1965. When the restaurant opened it found its niche serving inventively prepared game and exotic meats, along with its Caesar salad prepared table-side.

I understand that Chef Mark Owsley will continue as the Owyhee’s executive chef, serving Gamekeeper specials at the hotel’s Plaza Grill.

While the restaurant will close, the Gamekeeper lounge will remain open and continue to serve its appetizer menu.  The lounge will also continue its Jazz on Friday and Saturday nights.
