It can also be quite frightening…

I will be exploring the popularity of the local farmer’s markets in Seattle, Portland and in Boise on our Saturday Podcast on TalkShoe.  The show starts at 10AM Mountain time (noon EDT).  We’ll even have our roving reporter at the Boise market taking in the sites and sharing the experience.  Come join us.

This will mark the 91st  year that Boise Music Week has entertaining the people of Boise.  The festival began in 1924 when Eugene Farmer, music director at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, envisioned a free festival of music for the people of Boise.

The festival begins the last week of April and lasts until the first Saturday of May, and is staffed entirely by volunteers.

My first experience with the festival was in 1991, when I moved to Boise for the first time.  As I remember, we attended a presentation of Annie at the Velma Morrison Center For The Performing Arts.  Since then I have made it a point to attend as many of the events as I can during the music festival.

The musical for this year is Brigadoon, which will run from May 6 through May 9.

If you happen to be visiting Boise during music week I highly recommended taking in a few of the events.

This was one of the funniest Tonight show bits with Johnny Carson and Jack Webb done in the style of Dragnet, which was very popular at the time.

Sun Valley, Idaho

I visit Sun Valley a lot.  I visit mostly during the summer months when the weather is warm and sunny.  My wife likes to visit during the winter for the skiing.  While she is skiing, I usually hide in the lodge where I enjoy hot soup and lots of wine.  I think there is a balance in there somewhere. I’ve included this YouTube video to give you a taste of the legendary resort.
